Discussion Questions

Talk It Over: The Best Teacher Ever

Talking through the message with others helps you turn what God is saying to you into action steps.  When this week will you sit with friends or family to discuss these talking points, questions, and scriptures?

• Considering what you know about Jesus, what is the most important lesson you have learned from Him?

With your Bible or YouVersion, read Matthew 11:28-29.  In this passage we are guided to learn from Jesus and to find rest in Him.

• What does it mean to be “weary and burdened”?

• How does one “learn from” Jesus?

• What do you think it means to find rest in Jesus?

Read Galatians 3:27, Ephesians 4:20-32, and Colossians 3:12-14.  These passages encourage us to clothe ourselves in Christ and to take on the new life that He gives.

• Which part of your life is most difficult to relinquish to God’s leadership?

• How has a desire to be accepted by people rather than God influenced your behavior and decisions?

• How does a person “clothe” himself or herself in Christ?

Read 1 John 4:4, and Romans 8:33-37.  These passages teach that when we have God in our hearts, nothing that the world or Satan throws against us will defeat us.

• In what areas of your life are you experiencing the most opposition?

• How will you call on the power of God to help you overcome the obstacles?

Next Steps

This week, meditate on Matthew 11:28-30.  Allow the strength and wisdom of Jesus to bring you peace and confidence for every challenging situation you face this week.  Share what you experience with someone.  Letting someone else know what God is doing in your life can encourage them in their own walk of faith.

Slowly, prayerfully, and deliberately read Psalm 23.  Visualize Jesus as your shepherd ministering to you in this scene.  Walk through each day this week, confident in God’s love and obedient to his word in your life.

Talk It Over with God:

• Thank God for the strength and rest that he offers.

• Ask God to give you a deep desire for the things of God.

• Ask God to give you courage to put off the things of the world and to put on the things of God.

• Thank God for being the power in you to defeat Satan’s attacks.
